28 May 2016 : Maruti Suzuki has recalled units of Swift DZire and Baleno for faulty airbags software and fuel filters. 75, 419 units of Baleno have been reported to have airbag issues while 1961 swift DZire units have been recalled for replacement faulty fuel filters. According to company spokespersons, the decision has been made to ensure the safety of customers.
The recall includes Baleno cars manufactured between 3rd August 2015 to 17th May 2106. It includes both the diesel and petrol variants. In the 75, 419 Baleno cars that have been recalled, 15,995 are diesel models manufactured between the time periods of 3rd August 2015 to 22nd March 2016 are also suspected to have faulty fuel filters. The company decision of recall also includes 17,231 cars meant for export.
In the Swift DZire category, the recall will only include the Auto Gear Shift diesel variants. This implies that manual diesel and petrol variants will be unaffected by the decision of recall.
Earlier this month, Maruti Suzuki had recalled 20, 427 S-Cross cars which were suspected to have faulty brake parts. The dealers of Maruti Suzuki will start the exercise of contacting owners from 31st May onwards. Customers can check whether their cars qualify for the recall by checking Nexa website for Baleno and Swift DZire’s official website. The customers will be required to fill in their chassis number.
