20 May 2016 : After 5 Indian cars namely Scorpio, Celerio, Eeco, Eon and Kwid failed the crash test, Volkswagen has taken steps to upgrade the 1.2 litre TSI Vento to match the 5 star rating criteria with respect to safety.
Volkswagen has added the feature of ESP – Electronic Stabilisation Programme in the Vento in an attempt to improve its safety rating from the current 4 stars. However, the other variants of the Vento will continue to have the four stars rating in terms of safety.
The Vento has now been upgraded and will consist of the touch screen infotainment system in addition to the Mirror Link, rain sensing wipers, SMS and phone book viewer, IRVM’s with auto dimming feature and many more such additional, latest features. The Mirror Link feature will allow pairing of the infotainment system in the car with Android devices. This will be reflected on the touch screen. At the Auto Expo 2016, Vento’s upgraded model with DRL’s was displayed. This provides a hint regarding the future launch.
At present, the Vento is being sold in three variants. These are 1.5 liter diesel TDI variant, 1.6 liter MPI petrol variant and the 1.2 TSI variant.
