Not Being Part Of The IPL Has Adversely Affected The Pakistani Team’s Performance: Mickey Arthur

The newly appointed coach of the Pakistan Cricket Team, Mickey Arthur acknowledged in an interview given to media person’ s that not being part of the IPL has adversely affected the game of of the Pakistani cricket team.

Political issues between India and Pakistan led to the restriction being imposed on Pakistani cricketers from participating in the IPL ever since its second edition which was held in 2009.

Arthur, who became the head coach after succeeding Waqar Younis, said that participation in tournaments like the IPL gave ample opportunities to cricketers to learn the intricacies of the game.

Arthur coached the team Karachi Kings for Pakistan Super League. Arthur said that being allowed to play in the IPL has affected the performance of players in the 20 over format cricket matches.

Arthur has earlier worked with the Australian and South African cricket teams. He said that his main focus was to ensure that the Pakistani players get an environment in which they are able to perform their best.

Arthur also stated that Shahid Afridi, who has not been included in the preparatory team for the England Tour, had great potential and was a good player.
