26 May 2016 : Handling menopause is a difficult time for most women. It has been proven that the signals of menopause can be reduced by an impressive 36% by using acupuncture techniques.
The most common symptoms of menopause include night sweats and hot flashes. Acupuncture can help in reducing these symptoms.
According to researchers, the acupuncture techniques if administered regularly for 6 months can reduce the symptoms of acupuncture.
The study was conducted on 209 belonging to the age group between 45 to 60 years who had missed their periods for a minimum of 3 months and reported having a minimum of 4 night sweats or hot flashes in a fortnight.
The participants were divided into two groups.
Acupuncture treatment was administered to the first group for 6 months. The treatment was put on halt for the next 6 months.
The procedure was reversed for the second group.
After a period of 6 months, the primary group registered a decline of 36.7 % in menopause symptoms. The benefits persisted even after a year of the acupuncture treatment.
On the other hand the second group registered an increase in menopause symptoms during the 6 months in which acupuncture treatment was not received. However, the group recorded reduction of 31% in the symptoms post receiving the acupuncture treatment.
